Behind the Madness: Our Travel Journeys

If you’re reading this, you may be asking yourself, “Why are they doing this?” “Is this their first time traveling together?”

Those are both valid questions, and thank goodness the answer to the second one is no– otherwise we would be in for a big surprise 😉 My family has always prioritized travel. I have vivid memories of being dragged through icy cold conditions to look at Mt. McKinley in 2008 when the only thing I wanted to do was watch Finding Nemo in the back of the rental car; standing in the snow in my Chaco sandals to see a massive Sequoia tree in California proved to be only slightly warmer of an experience. The Bahamas, Europe, Greece, Hawaii- you name it and it has been on our yearly travel plans that I have only been lucky enough to attend!

This instilled in me a love for traveling that will likely never be quenched. When Evan and I started dating, I made sure one thing was very clear: not only will this be a priority, but I wanted to dream and experience it together with him and one day our future kids! He agreed with only a tiny bit of convincing and we decided to start off strong by traveling all throughout our dating relationship.

Here are some of our past adventures that have only served to strengthen our passion for each other and the undiscovered world.

Our first trip to Austin, TX in November 2020- the first time traveling together proved to be a huge learning experience but wouldn’t trade it for the entire world 😉

Savannah, GA– this one included my family! We went camping for 3 nights but due to the freezing cold only made it 2 :)) thank goodness for the Hampton Inn! nonetheless Savannah is one of our absolute favorite places and we hope to return ASAP.

These pictures were taken January of 2021 when we headed to the Outer Banks for a friend’s wedding! Despite the 19 hour drive– we had many deep talks throughout that trip– it was incredible. We got the chance to go on a flight on a tiny plane to see the island which was a once in a lifetime experience.

THIS…. might have to go down as our favorite trip of all time– for now!! Summer 2021 we traveled to Puerto Rico and it was just absolutely incredible. The weather was perfect, everything went so smoothly and not a single fight despite spending 24 hours together for all 6 days (those in relationships/marriage will understand how big of a deal this was ;). No but seriously, incredible food, people, and even a bioluminescent bay excursion made this the best trip ever– helps that I speak Spanish and was able to translate.

Viva Las Vegas!! For my 21st birthday Evan and I took a trip with our family and all my best friends to celebrate and man was it incredible. Even though it was incredibly fun, we all came to the conclusion it might be a once every three years excursion due to the cost and sheer madness that ensued everywhere we went.
