I don’t feel that it would be fair to only give you trip content without giving some details of the journey overseas (our new home for the next 4 months).

We started off by heading to the airport at 4:45 am-yikes- to catch our first flight to Dallas. Things were a tiny bit rocky when we realized we had an 8 hour layover and no car- but we were able to get an Uber and ended up heading to a cute coffee shop so I could get a little work done and ended the day with a long hangout at Barnes and noble to read and do some research for the trip.

Around 2 pm, we headed back to the airport to get ready for our 4:40 pm flight to Paris CDG airport. Got through security, found our gate, and we ate APPLEBEES as our last US meal (I am embarrassed to admit this, but options were slim). Our plane ended up getting delayed even more, but we finally got onto the plane and settled in for the 8.5 hour flight!

They fed us dinner, turned off the lights, and I went straight to sleep. Evan unfortunately had to deal with being my personal pillow and was not able to have as restful of an evening😂 he watched a few movies and we arrived to the Paris airport at 8:05 Paris time!

Our connecting flight was also delayed so we got some amazing pastries and a green juice at the airport- loading the next plane was crazy but we finally made it to Naples!

Overall, international travel is definitely something that brings you closer together as a couple. We learned how to navigate lines, deal with stress of the unexpected delays and logistics, and try to control hangriness when we hadn’t eaten in hours. The day after getting to Napoli we slept in until noon (neither of us ever do this!) but after a few more days completely adjusted to the new schedule.
