Alrighty, where were we?
I believe we were somewhere around Naples, Italy.
Day 4
Woke up AGAIN with the intention of going to Positano. If you’re traveling to Naples and want to visit Almalfi, plan in advance (spoiler alert: it worked out!)
Anyways, we woke up, got ready (I’ll put a fit check below) and made our way downtown to try to get on another bus to go to Almalfi. We found out we couldn’t, so decided to spend the morning seeing a few sights and the afternoon at this incredible beach resort we had spotted a couple days prior where the admission was $10.

After getting downtown, we walked to the famous Toledo train station which was pretty cool, but if you’re not a big walker id say cross it off your list. We walked about 2 miles one way to see it, and it was a tiny bit underwhelming. We did take cool pictures though! Better than the train station was the back way we took to get there, where we saw so many locals drinking coffee and doing their morning laundry.

After our long walk, we were super hungry so we went to this incredible restaurant in an alley and I think both of us would agree that this was one of the best meals we’ve had on the entire trip. Evan got seafood pasta with mussels and clams and I got the most incredible gnocchi. It was SO. GOOD.

After lunch, we decided to take our time walking back to the beach resort (about 3.5 miles)— there is no shortage of walking here! Along the way, we saw people swimming at a few beaches and stopped to watch some adorable kids cliff jumping 🙂

Finally, we made it to the beach resort where I read on my Kindle and Evan napped until sunset, where we took a sunset swim. It was truly an incredible day.

Day 5
This is the happy ending I promised! On Day 4 we realized the key to the operation was simply taking a ferry to a lesser known, but still beautiful island called Procida. This day we woke up, took a bus to the stop, then boarded the ferry (thanks to Evan’s amazing direction skills, we made it by about 1.5 minutes😪) and had an hour ferry ride to Procida!
When we got there, we decided to rent e-bikes which made the day so much fun. After spending so much time walking, it was so nice to have something that required a tiny bit less physical activity 🙂
On this day, we basically did typical island stuff- rode bikes, explored, and beached it up on the local black sand beach! The views on this island were so breathtaking. We did also explore an old jail that had a secret path leading to an incredible view of the bay and the mainland.

Hopped back onto a ferry around 6:15 pm to head back to the mainland! We got dinner at this beautiful seafood restaurant on the water and headed home- we were so tired after our long day!
The next day we woke up and headed to Rome, which I’ll create a separate post about!
I’m writing this from Florence, and may I just say that Napoli was one of our favorite places we’ve ever traveled. The people we met, the food we ate, the things we saw, and just the culture overall in southern Italy was incredible (is it weird to think it’s similar to US southern hospitality?) we truly felt that we were some of the only tourists, which we both truly loved. If you are considering planning a trip to Italy, both Evan and I recommend putting Naples at the very top of your list!
