Lisbon, Portugal

Hello everyone! I’m back today to talk about our brief time in Lisbon, Portugal. Unfortunately, we only got to spend ~24 hours in Lisbon. After our time there we both decided that we would love to return and spend more time there, because we really enjoyed it!

The reason we spent so little time was honestly a planning error on my part (just keeping it real). I had booked us a flight from Portugal to Munich, and instead of just choosing the Porto airport, I really didn’t think about how annoying it would be logistically and booked tickets from Lisbon to Munich. That being said, we took a 3.5 hour bus ride from Porto to Lisbon which wasn’t bad at all and was very cheap, I think we both just would have preferred to stay in Porto longer and visit Lisbon later.

Anyways, we arrived to Lisbon via bus around sunset on September 19. We took an Uber to our air BnB and ended up taking a bus for about 45 minutes to this restaurant I had seen on TikTok called Tacho de Pescador. The restaurant was on this really cute boardwalk with amazing night energy, but the food itself was not very good. This was sad for me because I haven’t had many letdowns with TikTok…. But I’ll accept defeat. First of all, they had things on the table already that they charged you extra if you ate upon arrival. The food was alright but a little overpriced. The last straw was when we saw a cockroach run across the floor. We left that night and headed back home.

Our Air BnB was also a little bit of a letdown (all in all I wasn’t super proud of this leg of the trip) but to be fair we did get what was advertised and what we paid for. It was a private room in a shared space which was fine, but had no AC and we were burning up. These people outside our window also decided to scream until around 4 am😅 that’s city travel for you!

The next morning we were both happy to be awake and done with the hot night. We hopped up, showered, and headed downtown to explore and check out the Time Out Market.

Lisbon is beautiful!

We walked there, and just for your information: Lisbon is HILLY! We were both drenched in sweat upon arrival.

The Time Out market is definitely touristy and overpriced, but we liked it anyways. We split this incredible pastry with crust that literally melted in your mouth like a marshmallow.

And don’t forget coffee!

After the market, we walked around for about 30 minutes trying to find a Mexican restaurant because we were craving it so badly. One of them was closed and the other out of business, so we decided to use our remaining limited time to walk along the boardwalk by the ocean. This is why I say we would want to return: it was beautiful! I want to go back and spend more time along the ocean, running and eating seafood and biking and just enjoying that beautiful city and atmosphere. We took a quick stroll and found a restaurant where we ordered absolutely incredible salads. We had to finish them quickly before finding an Uber back to our air bnb to grab our luggage then straight to the airport!

Along the boardwalk!
Lunch 🙂

The name of the restaurant was either “Ibo Restaurante” or “Restaurante Cervejara Solar de Kadete”. I think it’s the second one! If you’re ever in the area and looking to try these salads, just show them this picture and I’m sure they can tell you 🙂

All things considered, we had some setbacks in Lisbon. But we both were charmed by the place and would love to find ourselves back here at some point. I would have loved time to try more restaurants and maybe even go deep sea fishing or get to bike around and explore more. Hopefully we will have a chance to return!

Thanks for reading 🙂
