Porto, Portugal 🌴🌴
The time has come to talk about Porto, Portugal! I’ll start by saying that in the past year I have heard so many amazing things about Porto, causing me to be super duper excited about visiting. We arrived in Porto after a 7ish hour bus ride from Madrid (this one was in the daytime though)

Running Around The World (and all things fitness while traveling) 🏃🏼♀️🥇🥗
Hello everyone! I wanted to take a moment to publish a non-destination specific post so I could talk about something I am very passionate about. For those of you who know me, I am a HUGE runner. I completed my first marathon this March (2022) and have had the running bug since I began training

Madrid, Spain pt 2
I decided to split up the Madrid post into 2 first because we were there for 10 days, and also because the second half of the trip we had a hotel, meaning that we were on a bit more of our own schedule and not as much the 11 pm dinner schedule (although we mostly

Madrid, Spain part 1
Finally, Spain! Spain was somewhere both Evan and I had really, really wanted to visit (me even more so because I speak Spanish!) so I could hardly wait to arrive. We took an overnight bus from Paris to Barcelona and then boarded a train from Barcelona to Madrid. The bus was better than we had

Ahhh, Paris 🙂 a coveted destination and one of the ones I was most looking forward to on our trip! But dang was it a hassle to get here! If you want the full story, go check out my post about Lake Como and Milan to get a glimpse into our treacherous travel journey. Buuuut,

Milan and Lake Como, Italy
Although I did include Milan, Lake Como was really the star of the show during this leg of the trip. As I explained in the last post, this was a last minute addition for us. We were intending on going from Florence straight to Paris, but due to the incredibly high cost (I’m talking like

Florence, Italy

Rome, Italy 🙂
I’ll start this post off by saying, if you don’t like a lot of people, don’t go to Rome 😉 because they have no shortage of people! No but all of that aside, we absolutely loved Rome. We booked an Air BNB in Prati knowing nothing about the area, and as far as location goes,

Napoli, part 2 🙂
Alrighty, where were we? I believe we were somewhere around Naples, Italy. Day 4 Woke up AGAIN with the intention of going to Positano. If you’re traveling to Naples and want to visit Almalfi, plan in advance (spoiler alert: it worked out!) Anyways, we woke up, got ready (I’ll put a fit check below) and

Napoli, Italy: Stop 1
Day 1: Ciao from Napoli! The first stop on our trip was Naples, italy (or Napoli as known by the locals). We stayed in an adorable place called Hotel San Paolo a couple miles away from the city center of Naples. One amazing thing about Naples, though, was that they had INCREDIBLE public transportation! We

Our Story
Hi, we’re Alexis and Evan Emmerling (as of August 2022) and we are a newly engaged couple living in Little Rock, Arkansas and embarking on the journey of planning and completing a 5 month hybrid journey of exploring Europe and participating in sustainable mission work in another location- TBD on the second part! We are so blessed and thrilled to have this opportunity and wanted to use this blog as a way to connect and inform readers on the highs and lows of this journey, potentially inspiring others to do the same.
Friends since cerca 2007, Alexis and Evan grew up going to the same church, with the three year age gap between the two hindering anything more than a casual friendship. The Summer of 2018 posed an opportunity for the both of them to travel to Migori, Kenya for 7 weeks to participate in community service and an integrated experience in a community very unlike theirs. It was here that the two began to establish a true friendship, quickly becoming best friends as they spent days and nights discussing their life experiences, old and now new. This shared experience confirmed in both of them the love and connection that their hearts shared and affirmed the desire to chase their hearts desires together forever.
After navigating the waters of long distance while Alexis attended the University of Alabama and Evan settled into a job in Little Rock, the two were engaged July 29, 2021 and began to brainstorm about what a life together would look like. Alexis had a lifetime dream of traveling abroad for an extensive period of time that Evan was well aware of, and after much thought and prayer Evan confirmed that this dream was the first of many he would willingly pursue with her. Deciding on Europe, the time after has been a frantic combination of wedding planning and (more importantly) envisioning the culmination of a lifetime of dreams with the people they love most!
And that leaves us where we are now. With the ideas in full swing, our goals and dreams are only getting bigger and we cannot wait for you to get to know us more throughout this adventure.
