As you all know, the primary goal of this page is for us to share our travels and journeys with you. It all started last summer, when we were preparing to go on a 4.5 month long honeymoon. Now we’re back, working (but still traveling), and planning our next adventures.
That being said, there is another huge passion of mine that takes up a lot of my time: running. I’ve made a post on this blog as well as on my social media about what running means to me, how I’ve practiced it across the world, and my plans for continuing to pursue it. With how much I think about it, though, I think it’s about time that running has its own moment on this blog.
And with that, I’ll tell you why I’m determined to keep a verbal record of my running journey.
It’s because I’ve decided that my next journey will be to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
I know, this seems like an over-done goal. Every runner dreams of qualifying for Boston. And before my last marathon, I convinced myself it was a futile goal and even if I could do it, who cares? Everyone wants to do that. It’s basic.
The one thing running has taught me is that this sport is an individual journey. The same thing that I used to motivate myself to give UP this goal is the reason I do want to pursue it. Yeah, maybe no one cares if I qualify for Boston. But I care. Crossing that finish line in LA reminded me of all those 5 a.m. mornings where I showed up for myself. All those nights I sacrificed social time or alcoholic beverages or sweets (these, not as often) because I cared. I do care, and that’s the beauty of it.
I know this will be a hard goal, and I’m not sure that I will achieve it. But I’ve decided to try. My goal is to run in the 2025 Boston Marathon, meaning that I’ll qualify in 2024 (next year). I know it seems far out, but at the same time it seems like next week.
My hope is to use this platform to fill you in on what I’m doing, how I’m doing, and why I’m doing what I’m doing consistently throughout this training block. Who knows, maybe I’ll even make an Instagram.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way and everyone who will continue to support me along this journey.
See you in 2025, Boston. 🙂
